Our Commitment to You

Love.

First and foremost, we will commit to you that we will surround your child (or, in the case of twins, your children) with love -- both ours and that of all our extended families’.  We will love all our children, no matter how they come into our family.

Honesty. 

We are both very proud of our various family heritages, and integrating them has made us strong as a family.  Not only will your child know that he or she was adopted but, to the extent you are comfortable, we will share your story with him or her -- the story of your baby’s lineage and family legacies.  Most importantly, we will share the story of the love that led you to make an adoption plan for your baby.

Openness. 

We understand that children benefit from knowing about their birth parents, and we also appreciate and respect your privacy.  We will work with you to create a relationship that works for all of us and is in the best interests of the child.

Education. 

We both come from families with long histories of higher education, so we value education very highly.  We commit to you that we will do everything in our power to ensure that all of our children have access to college or whatever level of education is right for them, and that will help them discover and grow into not just what they are good at doing, but what they truly enjoy.

Support.

We know that this is a trying time for you, and we promise to do what we can to support you throughout this process.  If you feel comfortable, we would like to come out and meet you before your baby is born, and to be there at the time of the birth.  We will cover the expense of making sure that you have an attorney there to support your interests, and will help with other support as well.  Adoption is a life-changing event for all concerned, and it is important to us that it go well for you.
